Due to budget cuts by the government recently, the military has resorted to seeking out ways to save money. After consulting some of the best engineers the country has to offer, they came up with a new landing gear system for the F-16. It is light weight, easily dismantled and very low cost (only $550,000 per plane). Here it is in all it's shining glory. The new Pallet Landing Gear! As you can see, they even thought of a dampener, stylishly similar to a mattress.
The only issue so far is that there haven't been any test pilots volunteering to test the system.
